Gemma Tracey – Fitness Centre Manager

I started off as a member of Morgan’s, attending lots of different classes and using the gym. The friendly, helpful staff inspired me to pursue a career in Health and Fitness.
I gained my Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification with the YMCA, which was actually held at Morgan’s Christian Mill in September 2009. To this day I’ve never looked back.
I have worked in the Morgan’s Clothing Outlet, Morgan’s Christian Mill Gym and my current workplace – Morgan’s in the City Gym. I have enjoyed each of these but feel In the City is for me – it’s very fun, cheerful and upbeat which I think mirrors my personality.
I have recently been promoted to Manager at the City gym and am looking forward to taking on the challenge, helping Morgan’s grow as well as myself.
John Gregory - Gym Manager
I first became passionate about fitness while serving in the forces. It is this passion, and military attitude I use when I exercise. My own training is precise, technically correct at all times, and without any cheating or shortcuts. I have a great deal of empathy, and use this to encourage others to train in a manner that will be meaningful, beneficial, and giving you the results that you work hard for. However, I can also kick your rear if that is what is required!
I have trained at Cannons, The Devonshire, China Fleet Club, World Gym, Bodylines, plus many others. I have worked within the industry since 2004, and I am a Level 2 Fitness instructor. At present, I am employed as one of the many diversely qualified managers here at the Morgan’s Wellbeing Centre’s.
I have trained and worked in a variety of health and fitness environments, and I have seen nearly every exercise there is for every muscle group. This diversity of knowledge allows me to offer a safe training regime, with a variety of options to an individual’s training program, giving results you might not get from the basic training regime.
Remember.
“Technique is everything”
Cora Driver- Senior Instructor
I joined Morgan’s in July 2010 after leaving my previous role as a sports and massage therapist at Plymouth Argyle Football Club. I gained my employment at Plymouth Argyle whilst studying for a degree in Sports Therapy. Not only did I successfully gain that qualification, but I also completed my YMCA gym instructor’s course as part of my Sports Therapy degree, alongside this I also completed a degree in Health and Fitness.
Before joining Morgan’s I volunteered at a local gym where I gained valuable experience which has helped me in my role at Morgan’s.
I like working for Morgan’s as it has a fun, friendly atmosphere and I am able to utilise all my qualifications.
Eden Burrell – Spectra Red and Cardica Rehabilitation Instructor
The journey that brought me to Morgan’s and a career in health and fitness has been a very winding road!
I was diagnosed with arthritis in 1999 at the age of 21 and this gave me the inspiration I needed to start building up my own strength and mobility through determination, fitness and exercise . It soon occurred to me that not only was I not shown how to take care of myself through exercise by the medical profession but any one else in my position was also not shown how to look after their health this way.
I believe passionately in the benefits of exercise to people in my position and know my health would have deteriorated drastically without it.
I achieved a BSC Hon in Sports Therapy as well as my YMCA gym instructors qualification. To top this off I trained with the British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation to gain my BACR Phase Four, which enables me to help individuals whom have suffered a heart attack get back to full strength. This is my true passion – you can not beat helping to improve someone’s health and wellbeing.
I have lots of plans for Morgan’s and want to make a real difference to our members, particularly those with health issues as I have real empathy through my own experiences.
I facilitate the Spectra Red programme at Crownhill to help people wanting to lose weight and get fit – again I have a real understanding of this as I was once a bigger girl than I am now!
My team and I are looking forward to taking Morgan’s Crownhill from strength to strength and making it a place that helps people achieve health and happiness

Lucy Mackay – Spectra Facilitator and Pilates Instructor
I am a level 3 qualified Pilates instructor and also deliver the Spectra Red, Spectra Purple and Spectra Body & Soul Sessions for the Morgan’s Wellbeing Centre and Morgan’s in the City in Plymouth. I believe in the highest professional standards and in developing a positive relationship with each and every one of my clients. Each participant in my classes receives personal attention, encouragement and correction where necessary: this individual care makes all the difference to their experience, and we also have a good deal of fun during our classes together!
Pilates is a life-transforming exercise discipline which enhances both mental and physical well-being, whilst strengthening the back, toning the core, improving flexibility, muscle tone, bone density, posture, balance and general agility, as well as reducing blood pressure, cholesterol levels and nervous tension. Committed participants experience a noticeable increase in their strength and suppleness within weeks of starting the programme, and many with a lifetime of back problems find these disappear altogether with regular practice.
I am passionate about the benefits of Pilates, as a safe, pleasurable and extraordinarily effective form of exercise which exerts no stress on the body. We have participants aged from their teens into their 70’s and beyond, and each class caters for people of every shape, size, and ability level, from beginners to advanced.
It is truly inspiring to hear from our members about the way Pilates makes such a positive difference to their lives. Here are some of their comments to me over the past few months:
‘Just learning how to hold myself properly has completely changed how I feel on a day-to-day basis, not only physically but also psychologically too.’
‘I’m proud of my body for the first time in my life.’
‘I come out of every Pilates class feeling so much more relaxed, but also really alert and full of energy.’
‘I can see how my arms and abs have toned up, and I no longer get back ache at all!’
‘I now have a waist!’
‘If you only do one class, make it Pilates.’
‘Lucy is my guru!’
‘Lucy is an inspiring role-model, especially to us mature ladies.’
